The Gewirtz family has had hundreds of guests grace their Shabbat table, and most of them made the same request: “Can you please pass the challah!” Realizing that she had a unique and scrumptious product, Varda Gewirtz established Challah With a Twist in January 1994. Since then, her product line has grown to include gluten free rolls and incomparable chocolate and cinnamon babkas. From early on Friday morning until just before sundown, challah customers drop by the Gewirtz's uptown Harrisburg, Pennsylvania home to pick up their golden Shabbat bread.
